Simply William Morris - RHS Gold Medal & 'Best In Show'

William Morris renowned for his textile and wallpaper designs inspired our show garden and reflected his life and work.

A stained glass panel based on his 'Trellis' wallpaper design was the centrepiece of the garden with an orchard and a productive vegetable garden included.

The main planting was cottage garden style mixing simple native flowers alongside the more ornamental specimens as he did in his patterns

'The garden was a modern tribute to this enthusiastic, energetic craftsman and designer, following his believes and principles.

Show Gardens Concept For Living - Garden Designer Of The Year

In this small show garden it was important for us to demonstrate that by the use of good design and imaginative use of space and by careful selection of materials and plants, an appealing garden could be built and to our delight we won the garden designer of the year 2003.

Classic Garden - RHS Silver Medal 2002

This garden provides an area for contemplation & relaxation.

The lower garden was based on a Yin -Yang design where balance and harmony is crucial.

The top garden is for dining and is screened by bespoke timber trellis and arches. All planted with an abundance of foliage and flowers.

All these features combine to create a practical and attractive classic garden.

Moroccan Garden - RHS Gold Medal Tatton 2001

Working together with the John Lewis/Living Edge magazine we created a Moorish style courtyard.

The planting scheme was built around hot, spicy colours using plants that can withstand Britain's cooler climate. Large olive jars were imported from Morocco and the rear walls of the garden were constructed of breeze-block, rendered to look like commonly used bricks in Morocco.

"your garden was completely different with an excellent blend of hot colours"

Reflections on Rennie Mackintosh - RHS Gold Medal Tatton 2000

Our inspiration for this garden came from the famous Glaswegian Architect, who also designed jewellery, clocks & furniture.

By adopting his approach to design we incorporated strong lines & form, art noveau curves & his stylised rose to create a vibrant contemporary garden, full of colour & style.

Courtyard Retreat - RHS Silver Gilt 1999

The aim for our first show garden was to create a garden for peace & tranquillity.

All the essential elements were woven into the design. The gentle sound of water tumbling from pot to pool, the shaded seating area & the soft blues & yellows of the planting scheme.

All given unity by the strong radiating theme.
