Horatio’s Garden
We were honoured to construct Horatio’s Garden Midlands, a nationally recognised sanctuary designed by acclaimed landscape designer Bunny Guinness, in collaboration with the extraordinary team at Horatio’s Garden Charity. Located within the grounds of The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, the garden provides a restorative, accessible outdoor space for patients with spinal injuries, as well as their loved ones and care teams.
The charity was founded in memory of Horatio Chapple, a remarkable young man who aspired to become a doctor. Before his life was tragically cut short, Horatio volunteered at the Salisbury spinal unit and saw firsthand how access to nature could ease suffering and promote healing. His vision lives on in the gardens that now carry his name spaces designed to uplift, support and restore.
Working on this project was both a professional privilege and a personal inspiration. Our team delivered wheelchair-friendly raised planters and a carefully layered planting scheme chosen for its seasonal colour, sensory richness and therapeutic impact.
This garden continues to make a tangible difference every day as a living testament to Horatio’s compassion and vision.
