Modern Garden with Swim Spa & Outdoor Kitchen
This large family garden started as a long stretch of lawn with little interest or functionality. Our clients wanted a complete redesign that would bring structure, year-round planting, and dedicated areas for entertaining, while incorporating a swim spa and outdoor kitchen.
Key Features
Patio & Outdoor Kitchen
Directly outside the house, we created a spacious, natural stone patio that flows seamlessly into the garden. A fully equipped outdoor kitchen with a built-in pizza oven, BBQ and food preparation area makes this space perfect for family gatherings and entertaining.
Swim Spa Area
The swim spa was set into a sunken terrace, blending practicality with style. Retaining walls were rendered and capped for a clean, modern look, with steps leading down to the spa for easy access. Planting softens the space, creating privacy and a calming atmosphere.
Flow & Levels
A series of wide steps connect the patio to the lawn, framed by raised beds filled with ornamental grasses and perennials for texture and movement. A contrasting gravel path runs the length of the garden, linking spaces and drawing the eye to the far end.
Planting Design
The planting scheme combines evergreens for structure with grasses and herbaceous perennials for seasonal colour and interest. Boundaries were softened with new fencing and planting to create privacy without losing light.
The Result
This project transformed an empty lawn into a multi-functional family garden that balances style with practicality. With a swim spa, outdoor kitchen, entertaining terrace and planting for year-round interest, the design creates a true extension of the home – a garden for relaxing, entertaining and enjoying every season.
