Sanctuary Spaces

A sanctuary or sensory garden offers a place where you can slow down and enjoy a moment of peace and quiet. From hospitals and healthcare settings to care homes and community gardens, these spaces can make a real difference in all kinds of settings.

At Butler Landscapes, we design outdoor spaces that are designed to reduce stress and encourage mindfulness. Every sanctuary garden we create is shaped around the people who’ll use it, whether it’s a space for patients to unwind in or a quiet spot where visitors can enjoy some fresh air.

A Mediterranean-Inspired Poolside Retreat

From the outset, our client made it clear they were looking to create more than just a garden. They envisioned a year-round, poolside retreat a space for entertaining, exercising, and unwinding with friends and family. Inspired by Mediterranean living, their goal was to extend the home’s living area outdoors with a space that offered both functionality and tranquillity.

Horatio’s Garden

In collaboration with the Horatio’s Garden charity, we were honoured to create a sanctuary garden at Oswestry Hospital. Designed as a safe space for staff and patients, we incorporated accessible raised beds and a carefully considered planting scheme to add colour and texture.
