Rooftop Garden, Birmingham
Butler Landscapes were commissioned by garden designer Liz Ackerley to construct a contemporary rooftop garden for her residential client in Birmingham. The project transformed a plain roof terrace into a sophisticated outdoor retreat, designed for relaxation and entertaining against the city skyline.

Japanese Island Garden
This unique project was created on a private island, where specialist engineering and design came together to create a tranquil Japanese-inspired retreat. To carry out the work, we first had to shutter the island and carefully manage the water levels to allow construction to begin.

Formal Fountain Water Feature
This stunning formal garden was transformed with the installation of an elegant stone water feature, designed to create perfect symmetry with the property’s classical frontage.

Bayley Hills
Our client requested a contemporary garden design that seamlessly blends entertainment and relaxation. For the front garden, the design includes a spacious driveway for multiple vehicles with easy access to the house, complemented by soft planting to enhance the space. A discreet bin storage solution will hide unsightly bins, and tiered vegetation will be replaced with new planting borders that provide seasonal interest and focal points.

A Mediterranean-Inspired Poolside Retreat
From the outset, our client made it clear they were looking to create more than just a garden. They envisioned a year-round, poolside retreat a space for entertaining, exercising, and unwinding with friends and family. Inspired by Mediterranean living, their goal was to extend the home’s living area outdoors with a space that offered both functionality and tranquillity.

Tilstock Cemetery
At Butler Landscapes, we were honoured to create a design that balances formality, heritage, and ecology for Tilstock Cemetery’s new entrance avenue. Commissioned to enhance the approach to a historic Celtic-style monument, our vision was to develop a contemplative space that unites structure and softness, welcoming visitors with dignity and beauty.

Pond Restoration
This project focused on restoring a neglected pond area into a more usable space. Excess sediment was removed, the weir was restored and raised jetties and seating were added to give the area a new lease of life.

Sunken Garden
We were tasked with transforming an unused swimming pool into a stylish sunken garden. We achieved this by constructing a new Millboard seating area under the existing pavilion, incorporating water features and colourful plants, and creating a series of linking, accessible paths.

Terraced Contemporary Garden
The client wanted a family-friendly garden with plenty of space for socialising. We installed a fire pit, water feature wall and an outdoor kitchen area, constructed an upper and lower terrace and shaped a large open lawn, complete with planting.

Foundation Garden
This garden transformation began with an unusual challenge – the site was originally laid with foundations for a house that was never allowed to be built. Instead of leaving the plot unused, we reimagined it as a vibrant and characterful garden, making use of the existing structure to create something truly unique.
